I have an old VW Beetle; a 2007, to be exact. The body is in excellent condition, but yeah, its old and I get it. VW Beetles are a pain in the a** to work on. I'm also the third owner of this car, and it's pretty high mileage. However, the previous owners used to bring it into this shop, so I thought I would try it. They were not rude to me, but they made it VERY clear they had no interest in dealing with me or my car, as if I were bothering them by even asking them to look at it. They essentially told me it was going to be too expensive to be worth repairing before they even looked at the car. Okay, yeah, they are probably right, but I still paid them for their time. Here's the other thing: they ripped the driver's seat, and never said anything about it. Maaaaaybe they didn't notice it, but the whole transaction just felt gross and dismissive and when I get another car (that won't be a Beetle, since I've learned how much people hate working on them) I know where I won't take it.
